B I O G R A P H Y
Lucy Turnbull is a painter and arts educator based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Turnbull studied at Adelaide Central School of Art, receiving a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) in 2010. In 2015, she took part in the New York Studio School (NYSS) Fall Drawing Marathon with Graham Nickson. The following year they returned to study at the NYSS and was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in 2018. During her three years in New York, Turnbull took part in a residency program at the Chautauqua School of Art and was the recipient of a travel award allowing her to continue her studio research in Europe.
Since returning to Australia in 2019 Turnbull has exhibited at Praxis Artspace (2020, 2021) and collaborated with Kelly Reynolds on The Drawing Exchange (2022) at Adelaide Central Gallery and Riverside (2022) at Sauerbier House. Turnbull’s work continues to explore her interest in working from observation to record her experience of place and connection to home.
Lucy is a lecturer in drawing & painting at Adelaide Central School of Art.
